Although the 1938 Hurricane was a major disaster in New England, the Lacey home in Southbridge MA suffered minor damage from the loss of 2 large maple trees which uprooted and leaned against the house. Branches from one of the fallen trees broke through the window of my bedroom and kept me company for a couple nights.
